The artist created collages from recycled acrylic palettes, inspired by portraits of regular women baring their asset. By choosing not to display only one “type” of body, the artist highlights self-love – the mischievous and experimental.

The 90’s craved bare mid-drifts on a thin frame. The early 2000’s saw the rise of the whale tail, and somewhere along the way, trailblazers Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, and other women of color enlightened the affections of many with a devotion to their own behind. Idealizing a large ass is a trend that seems to be uplifting females of color previously left out of contemporary American notions of idealized beauty. It is as if the idea of a quintessential woman has come full circle, returning to the rotund a la Venus of Willendorf.
