During a ten day art educator residency in the summer of 2019, the artist completed over eight acrylic paintings depicting semi-nude women. “Prayer” and “Bogoroditsa” were on display at Ann and Norman Roulet Gallery June 29 – July 12.

Artist Statement: My work seeks to blur the line between piety and sexuality. I honor sex workers and their historical role in scripture by placing them at the forefront of my paintings, adorning them with Russian Orthodox iconography. I present the female gaze through the lens of consent, trauma, and liberation.
